Halton People Into Jobs (HPIJ)
HPIJ is a service of Halton Borough Councils Economic regeneration department and
is available to Halton Employers and Local residents.
The service was formed in 2000 on the basis of local jobs for local people, and this
is achieved by supporting assisting Halton Employers with their recruitment to maximise
the local labour resource available by sourcing work-willing residents with the appropriate
skills and experience.
To date the service has assisted over 3000 local people into sustainable employment.
Why do Employers use HPIJ?
HPIJs aim is to meet every employers expectations and are flexible to meet each employers
specific needs and ways of recruiting. The team are able to offer:
- Large scale recruitment support including recruitment events, advertising through
partnership networks to source candidates, handle application forms and client feedback,
develop assessments and arrange interviews
- Small scale recruitments – sourcing, sifting and arranging interviews for the HPIJ
database of clients and partnership working to identify suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.
- ‘One Stop Shop’ approach to providing information, advice and guidance to
employers on recruitment methods, issues such as current wage/minimum wage rates etc
utilising partners where appropriate
- Access to diverse labour market which reflects the local area make up – can assist
towards employers diversity targets
- Comprehensive support delivered by named Job Brokers who manage vacancies from
start to finish, providing regular feedback
- Access to work willing, suitable clients who are actively working with HPIJ to fins
suitable work locally – clients in a large variety of sectors, from entry to management
level. Working with partners to develop initiatives around training and development of
employment opportunities.

Why are HPIJ clients Different?
HPIJ approaches its support for clients on the basis of finding the right job for the right
person, with a longer-term vision. That is why HPIJ works to promote sustainable employment and
offers services to promote job retention.
- HPIJ clients receive specific, tailored 121 support from Job Brokers with knowledge in the
clients chosen occupation sector
- Clients are matched only to jobs for which they are appropriately skilled, experienced or prepared for.
- Specialist Disability Job Brokers support clients with additional needs to secure employment
- Quality Accredited Information, Advice and Guidance from qualified Job Brokers who have highly
developed local knowledge of complimentary provisions to ensure the client gets everything they
need to prepare, identify and secure the right job.
- HPIJ’s In work Support after care service to support clients once in employment
- Clients at all levels, with or without any employment experience can access the service available
form Office Based and Outreach sites.
