WREN

Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN) was established in 1997. WREN is a company limited by guarantee and a non-profit making Environmental Body (EB) registered to fund projects which are “eligible” under the Landfill Communities Fund.

WREN receives the majority of its funding from the landfill tax levied by Waste Recycling Group.

European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

3MG has been awarded £2 million from the ERDF (Objective 2) under Priority 3 which provides funding for Economic Development Zones.

ERDF provides support for regional economic development including the provision of infrastructure and support for services to businesses and communities. Within the context of the European Union, ERDF helps to redress the main regional imbalances in the Community by participating in the development and structural adjustment of regions whose development is lagging behind and the economic and social conversions of regions.

Over 100,000 new jobs will be created and safeguarded under Government plans announced by the Deputy Prime Minister to invest £450m in businesses across England.

 

The first round of the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) will see an expanded amount of public investment support 50 bids by companies and partnerships who demonstrated how they would create jobs and a high level of private sector-led sustainable economic growth in their local communities over the coming years.

Against stiff competition, the Mersey Multimodal Gateway (3MG) partnership has secured £9 million from the Regional Growth Fund.
