Will the scheme increase HGV traffic in Halebank?
Changes to the road network will ensure that the increase in HGV traffic generated by the Freight Park does not impact on the residential area of Halebank. Measures will include a northern connection providing access and egress from the freight park to the A5300. The station bridge, which has been an issue for local businesses and residents for many years, is likely to be replaced. We have been working very closely with Network Rail who have been extremely co-operative. The East West link road connecting HBC Field to the existing operations at O’Connor’s and AHC has been designed in such a way that it will incorporate the much-needed HGV bypass, something the Council and Local residents have identified to support the Halebank community. Vehicle weight restrictions and traffic calming measures will be integrated on Hale Road supporting the diversion of HGV traffic onto the bypass and away from the local roads in Halebank.
